The trip is not that far from home, about 30 mins, but close enough if needed I could get some assistance 😉 if you know what I mean. The trail’s name is Saran Wrap – for good reason, as it is rocky and vehicles sometimes end up ‘wrapped’ around the rocks. (trail description)
Now some people just don’t understand why we go off roading. Well for me, it is a group event where we can get out to the ‘hard to reach’ areas and enjoy nature… usually the excursions we plan include a hike or at the least a destination with a spectacular view. One thing to note – we fully support the Tread Lightly initiative.
Now the Rover being a 12 yr old vehicle, I was not sure how it would do – even though it has a pedigree of greatness in off roading. The Rover surprised me and performed well and easily handled a difficult trail with no problems. Also my boys had a fantastic time… double win for me!
I have to say this was the first times getting out – so a bit nervous, but in the end it was exhilarating. I would say it was the spring board that pushed me to get out more…
The views of the Front Range – well see for yourself:
At the end of the day, we all had fun and enjoyed some of the great Colorado outdoors. At this point I thought to myself “I must get out and do more!”
